    We’re responsible for three unique and exciting wheelchair sports – Wheelchair Athletics, Wheelchair Rugby and, Wheelchair Tennis.

  • Wheelchair Athletics

    Wheelchair Athletics includes both Wheelchair Racing and Seated Throws. Track and Field events are a great fit for athletes with a range of physical abilities and our programs welcome participants of all skill levels – from beginners to elite athletes.

  • Wheelchair Rugby

    A full-contact and exciting team sport that combines elements of basketball, handball, hockey and rugby to create a unique sport for people with impairment in three or more limbs. There are 6 rugby clubs spread across the province in Vancouver/Richmond, Kelowna, Kamloops, Victoria, Prince George, and Duncan.

  • Wheelchair Tennis

    Wheelchair tennis follows nearly identical rules to able-bodied tennis with the exception that the ball is allowed to bounce twice before it is hit. It is a mentally and physically challenging individual sport and a lot of fun! BCWSA offers tennis programs for participants of all ages and skill levels in communities around BC.

    We host a number of different provincial, national, and international competitions throughout the year. BCWSA athletes also travel to competitions across the country throughout their respective seasons.

  • Canada Cup

    Held biennially at Competitions the Richmond Olympic Oval, the Canada Cup welcomes the world’s top national Competitions teams to BC to compete and prepare for the Paralympic Games and/or World Championships.

    One of our two annual ITF tournaments. The Vancouver International Wheelchair Tennis Tournament gives local athletes the chance to compete at home against other emerging talents from around the world.
