BC Wheelchair Sports Association’s (BCWSA) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle McDonell as the new Executive Director of BCWSA.

An experienced and knowledgeable leader in the sports sector, Michelle is a Certified Recreation Therapist with both a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation. She’s a strong advocate for accessible, inclusive, and safe sport with a proven track record of creating, enhancing, and effectively advocating for opportunities for athletes with physical disabilities.

Michelle has been at BC Wheelchair Sports since 2016. During that time, she has led the expansion and growth of our Wheelchair Tennis programs, playing a pivotal role in the development of athletes, coaches, and community partners. She’s also led and assisted with a number of initiatives within our Bridging the Gap and Indigenous Bridging the Gap programs, overseen regional coordinators and spearheaded the execution of multiple major events including Birmingham National Wheelchair Championships, ITF tournaments and more.

Her experience and continuity with the organization will be a valuable asset as we enter our next chapter.
