Junior Wheelchair Racing (Richmond Olympic Oval)

We are excited to share that BC Wheelchair Sports Association has been selected by Canadian Tire Jumpstart to receive a grant from their Sport Relief Fund. The fund helps community sport organizations like ours continue to provide access to sport and play for Canadian kids. With Jumpstart’s support, we’ll be able to continuing providing more indoor wheelchair athletics opportunities for our juniors and continue to grow our junior platform!
Junior athletes are invited to come out, hop in a racing chair and work on their speed and pushing skills in a fun and supportive environment with our Provincial Wheelchair Racing Coach James Hustvedt.
Indoor Wheelchair Racing (Juniors)
Dates: Mondays October 18-December 13
Time: 3:45-4:45pm
Location: Richmond Olympic Oval (6111, River Road)
Coaching: Provincial Wheelchair Racing Coach James Hustvedt
Cost: $30 for the full season

Additional session cancellations or changes will be communicated by the coaching staff except in the case of a COVID related change in which case you will receive an email from Ana. As things continue to change quickly, please always check your email before leaving for a program. If you will not be able to attend a session, please contact your coach or Ana at 604-842-6092 ahead of time to let us know.
COVID-19 Protocols
BCWSA COVID-19 Protocols – PLEASE READ
While BCWSA has in place guidelines (See Below) to as best as we can prevent the spread of COVID-19 there is still risk in participating in any sporting activity given the current spread of COVID-19. Everyone plays a role in keeping their community safe and it more important than ever that we adhere to all guidelines and public health advice. If at any time you feel sick please do not attend programming.
- All activities must follow all Government of BC COVID-19 Restrictions and Orders
- All participants (or their parents for participants under 18) will be required to sign an updated BCWSA Waiver or Assumption of Risk AND COVID-19 Declaration and must follow all BCWSA Policies and Protocols.
- Individuals should not attend any sport programming if they are unwell. Participants may use the COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool (https://bc.thrive.health/covid19/en/) to assess their symptoms as necessary. It is the responsibility of the individual to monitor themselves for symptoms which may be related to COVID-19.
All participants and coaches should continue to practice good hygiene (frequent hand washing with soap and water and use of hand sanitizers;; avoid touching one’s face; respiratory etiquette; disinfect frequently touched surfaces).
IMPORTANT! All participants must sign a COVID-19 Declaration and updated BCWSA Waiver before participating in any BCWSA programming. If you have already signed these documents you do not need to complete them again. Please contact Ana if you are unsure.
OVAL Protocols – PLEASE READ
Proof Of Vaccination: An Oval team member will be stationed at the main entrance to the Oval to verify vaccination cards before entry. People over 19 years attending the Oval for indoor adult group and team sports are required to show proof of vaccination in conjunction with a government-issued ID.
