BC Wheelchair Sports Association is excited to launch a brand new “Girls Only” junior wheelchair tennis program at the Surrey Tennis Centre. Canadian Paralympian Sarah Hunter will be on hand to coach the program and lead girls through activities, fun drills, and match play. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity! We would like to thank the Province of BC and viaSport for the generous contribution to this program. Registration information is below.
What is Wheelchair Tennis?
Wheelchair tennis is a fast-paced Paralympic sport. Wheelchair tennis follows the same rules as able-bodied tennis, except wheelchair tennis players are allowed two bounces of the ball. The wheelchair is part of the body as it applies to rules.
Who Can Play?
Individuals in a manual or electric wheelchairs with a physical disability can participate. You do not need to be able to grip a racquet, as the racquet can be secured to your hand. Some players simply tape the racquet to their hand, while others have specifically designed grips.
