Djami Diallo and Eddy Solla off to the World CP Games in Spain

BCWSA wheelchair racer Djami Diallo (Pitt Meadows) and seated thrower Eddy Solla (New Westminister) are representing Canada this month at the 2018 CPIRSA World Games in Sant Cugat, Spain.
This is Diallo’s first time representing Canada and she says it’s mean even more coming at the World CP Games
“An opportunity such as this one to represent Canada holds a lot of meaning because it’s CP World Games. To show what athletes with CP can do and get people thinking differently is important for integration of children and youth with CP in school programs as an introduction to sports. I never got those opportunities to participate with my peers, so it’s crucial in that sense for me,” she says.
Djami has had a great season this year after returning from an injury and recently won two bronze medals at the Canadian Track and Field Championships. She’s hoping to cap off her comeback with a solid performance on the world stage.
Seated thrower Eddy Solla heads to Spain after winning bronze in discus at the Canadian Track and Field Championships and hitting multiple personal bests. The 23-year-old was also named the champion of the Men’s Seated Shot-Put of the National Para Challenge.
Eddy says that representing Canada has been a dream for him since he was a kid and he’s aiming to hit a couple personal bests in Spain, where he will compete in shot-put and discus.
The CPISRA World Games will welcome teams from multiple countries to compete in six sports. The last CPIRSA World Games were held in Nottingham, England in 2015.
