• BC Wheelchair Sports Association Announces Athletes Selected to Compete at the 2017 Canada Summer Games

(Vancouver, BC) – BC Wheelchair Sports Association is proud to announce the seven athletes who will be competing at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg from July 28th – August 13th.

“Congratulations to all the athletes selected,” said BCWSA Executive Director Gail Hamamoto. “This is one of our biggest Canada Summer Games teams in recent memory, and we’re so proud of the hard work that the athletes and coaches have been putting in preparing for the event.”

The selected athletes are:

  • Jessye Brockway (Mill Bay, BC) – seated throws, shot put and discus
  • Dakoda Darling (Grand Forks, BC) – seated throws, shot put and discus
  • Yeshi Renaerts (Victoria, BC) – wheelchair racing, 200m, 400m, and 1500m
  • Sedrick Skabar (Port Coquitlam, BC) – wheelchair racing, 200m, 400m, and 1500m
  • Eddy Solla (Chilliwack, BC) – seated throws, shot put and discus
  • Daryl Yuen (Vancouver, BC) – seated throws, shot put and discus
  • Balraj Zimich (Richmond, BC) – wheelchair racing, 200m, 400m, and 1500m


Lisa Myers (Vancouver, BC) will coach para-throws and James Hustvedt (North Vancouver, BC) will coach wheelchair racing.

The team will be led by Jessye Brockway, who won two bronze medals at the 2013 Canada Summer Games, Dakoda Darling, who holds the Canadian F57 Male Seated Discus record, and Sedrick Skabar, who won 3 silver medals at the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games.
