BC Athletes get off to a strong start at the Canadian Track and Field Championships

Team BC got off to a strong start at the Canadian Track and Field Championships on Wednesday in Ottawa.
Four of BC’s five throwers were in action on Day 1 in the seated shot-put competition.
Jessye Brockway competed in the first event of the day and finished 4th in the women’s seated shot-put.
On the men’s side Dakoda Darling finished 2nd overall with a personal best of 9.83m to lead Team BC. Eddy Solla and Daryl Yuen also posted personal bests with throws of 7.73m and 6.93m to finish in 4th and 8th overall.
The evening session featured wheelchair racing as Tristan Smyth finished 2nd in a back-and-forth battle with his Rio 2016 relay teammate Alexandre Dupont of Quebec in the Men’s 5000m race.
Djami Diallo finished first in her classification and 4th overall in the Women’s T33/34 & T53 100M as she continues to prepare for the CPIRSA World Games coming up this August in Spain.
In the men’s 100M, Nathan Dewitt finished 2nd in the T34 race. Sedrick Skabar finished 3rd in the T53 and Balraj Zimich finished 4th in the T54.
