Opportunities

BCWSA is a proud partner of the WC Race Series which is a non-profit society specializing in wheelchair racing and hand cycling. The WC Race series was founded in 1995 as a developmental wheelchair racing program. BCWSA and the WC Race Series have worked together advocating on behalf of wheelchair racers in BC creating wheelchair divisions in many road races and track events around the province.

The WC Race Series has created an environment that is based on peer support and welcomes all levels of racers from the beginner to the seasoned veteran. Weekly training sessions are scheduled throughout the season, allowing more experienced racers to provide advice on everything from equipment to technique.

In addition, BCWSA hosts clinics at the beginning of each year for adults and juniors. Clinics are hosted by elite level athletes and coaches. Information presented covers everything from equipment, technique, training, nutrition to mental training techniques.

There are opportunities to participate in track locally and at the BC Games, Western Canada Summer Games and Canada Games. With the guidance of BCWSA, athletes can work through the system, accessing coaching, travel assistance, clinics and many other resources to seek out whatever level of competition that they strive for.
