How to Run a Wheelchair Tennis Beginner Session
BCWSA partnered with the Bridging the Gap program and Tennis Canada to create a video resource for beginning wheelchair tennis coaches and program coordinators. This series of videos will take you step by step through how to coach a beginner in wheelchair tennis. It features the following modules:

BCWSA Coaching Standards
Club and Provincial Events Minimum Coach Standards
Tennis
BCWSA Specific Criteria:
· Must be current member in good standing with BC Wheelchair Sports
· Must have completed the Tennis Canada Wheelchair Tennis Instructors Course
· Working directly with athletes in the club training environment as a personal coach
Rugby
BCWSA Specific Criteria:
· Must be current member in good standing with BC Wheelchair Sports
· Must have NCCP Intro to Comp trained status with a plan to achieve certified status
· Working directly with athletes in the club training environment
Athletics
BCWSA Specific Criteria:
· Must be current member in good standing with BC Wheelchair Sports
· Must be NCCP Sport Coach trained with a plan to achieve certification
· Working directly with athletes in the club training environment or as a personal coach
Provincial Coach Minimum Standards
Tennis
CSI Specific Criteria:
· Be the lead person designing and implementing an annual training program for the athlete, OR;
· Be designated as Provincial or Regional coach by the PSO, OR;
· Be designated as a National Development / Senior coach by NSO,OR;
· Be designated as athlete’s coach of record based on sport specific criteria below.
BCWSA Specific Criteria:
· Must be current member in good standing with BC Wheelchair Sports
· Must be certified Club Pro 1 or have a plan in place to achieve this within an agreed timeframe
· Must have completed the Tennis Canada Wheelchair Tennis Instructors Course
· Working directly with athletes in the Provincial Team Program
Rugby
CSI Specific Criteria:
· Be the lead person designing and implementing an annual training program for the athlete, OR;
· Be designated as Provincial or Regional coach by the PSO, OR;
· Be designated as a National Development / Senior coach by NSO,OR;
· Be designated as athlete’s coach of record based on sport specific criteria below.
BCWSA Specific Criteria:
· Must be current member in good standing with BC Wheelchair Sports
· Must be, at minimum, working on NCCP Comp Dev trained status
· Working directly with athletes in the Provincial Team or Next Gen program.
Athletics
CSI Specific Criteria:
· Be the lead person designing and implementing an annual training program for the athlete, OR;
· Be designated as Provincial or Regional coach by the PSO, OR;
· Be designated as a National Development / Senior coach by NSO,OR;
· Be designated as athlete’s coach of record based on sport specific criteria below.
BCWSA Specific Criteria:
· Must be current member in good standing with BC Wheelchair Sports
· Must be, at minimum, NCCP Club Coach or Performance Coach trained and working towards certification in the next 3 years
· Working directly with athletes in the BCWSA Provincial WC Athletics Program
