BC Wheelchair Sports' best honoured at Sport BC Awards Banquet!

On Wednesday, March 5, 2008, British Columbia's most accomplished athletes, coaches, volunteers and officials of 2007 were honoured at Sport BC's 42nd Annual Athlete of the Year Awards, presented by TELUS. Michelle Stilwell was named Athlete of the Year in the Athlete with a Disability category for her outstanding accomplishments in wheelchair racing over the past year. Richard Peter, one of the best wheelchair basketball players in the world, was also a finalist in the same category.

BCWSA would also like to congratulate Darryl Neighbour who was presented with the Sport BC Presidents' Award for his tireless contribution to the sport of wheelchair curling. Not only is Darryl one of the top players in Canada but he is also one of wheelchair curling's strongest advocates and willingly volunteers his time and talent to teaching curling to others and to furthering the growth of this popular sport throughout British Columbia.
