| BCWSA Executive Director, Kathy Newman, joins National Board |
Kathy Newman, Executive Director of BC Wheelchair Sports Association was named to the Canadian Wheelchair Basketball Association Board of Directors as VP Marketing and Communications.
Newman has been involved in the wheelchair sport community for over 20 years and has had a wide variety of responsibilities over the years at the Provincial and National level. She brings a wealth of experience to the CWBA in the areas of Marketing and Fundraising, Event Planning, Strategic Planning, Governance Management and Policy Development.
"We are pleased to have someone with Kathy's experience and knowledge join our Board of Directors," said CWBA president Paul Bowles. "We would all like to welcome Kathy to the CWBA and look forward to working with her in furthering the development and awareness of the sport of wheelchair basketball."
"I'm looking forward to working with the CWBA and its successful National team programs," said Newman. "They have a great product. One of my mandates will be to secure funding to support domestic development."
BC Wheelchair Sports is a not-for-profit organization devoted to
providing opportunities for athletes with physical disabilities. Since
being founded in 1971, the organization has worked to provide access to
quality programs for athletes with disabilities. In partnership with
other Provincial Wheelchair Sports Societies across Canada, BCWSA is
dedicated to promoting Wheelchair Sport and community awareness.
